House 1563 is a modern residential project designed by iCON Architects within the Val de Vie Estate. The brief called for a contemporary family home that balances strong architectural form with practical living, while responding to its natural surroundings.
The architectural brief for House 1563 resulted in a residence offering five bedrooms and six bathrooms, with additional spaces including a study or studio, a pyjama lounge, and staff accommodation to support modern family living. The design accommodates six garages and integrates three gas fireplaces as part of the overall spatial planning. Outdoor elements such as the swimming pool and landscaped areas with irrigation were carefully incorporated into the layout. Central air conditioning supports year-round comfort, while the relationship between the 1,267 square metre erf and the 924 square metre building size informed the scale, massing, and proportion of the home.

The design is defined by clean lines, layered volumes, and expansive glazing that connects interior spaces to the landscape beyond. Material selection was intentional, combining stone, glass, and restrained finishes to create contrast without visual excess. The architectural language remains consistent throughout the home, from exterior massing to interior spatial planning.

Orientation played a key role in the design process. Living areas were positioned to capture mountain views and daylight, while circulation and private spaces were arranged to ensure comfort and functionality. The layout encourages a clear flow between indoor and outdoor areas, supporting everyday living as well as entertaining.
Built by Bergstreme Developments, House 1563 demonstrates how disciplined design and careful execution can result in a residence that is both structured and livable, modern yet grounded in its setting.
